| Personal History | René was born on July 1st, 2350 to Pierre and Gabrielle Rouen in the city of Paris, France. René grew up in a devote Roman Catholic home which instilled a strong moral compass of right and wrong. He holds a strong faith in God and believes in the tenants of Christian charity. His father, Pierre, was the senior instructor at Salle D'armes Coudurier, the oldest fencing academy in the city. Pierre taught René not only the art of swordsmanship, but also the craft of swordsmithing, from a young age. He was allowed to compete in fencing tournaments when he was old enough and won regional championships in his mid teens and one national championship prior to leaving for Starfleet Academy. His mother, Gabrielle, was a music professor at IMEP College of Music. She taught René a love for the arts, especially music and René took guitar lessons all throughout middle school and high school. Though not of the caliber to become a professional musician, he is content being good enough in entertaining family and friends. René traveled a lot throughout Europe in his teens to attend fencing tournaments either he or his father competed in. He learned English and German fluently and has some proficiency in Italian and Spanish. René knew from a young age that he wanted to become an officer in Starfleet. He knew that being physically fit was not the only thing he would need. He would need a keen intellect as well. He studied hard in secondary school and though not the strongest in the sciences, he did have a focus on history and literature. René began his application and aptitude testing for Starfleet Academy during secondary school. He knew that he wanted to go into the Security/Tactical track as he thought himself to be a noble warrior much like his paternal ancestors. René’s first two years at the Academy were focused on learning the core curriculum required for all cadets. He declared his major during his third year for the Defense and Strategic Studies program in the Security/Tactical track. René started his fourth year at the Academy with a cadet cruise that was supposed to teach him the duties and responsibilities of a security and tactical officer aboard a starship. He was billeted as the Cadet Chief Tactical/Security Officer and learned a bit about running an entire department, not just one division. It was during this time that he met and fell head over heels for the mysterious El-Aurian woman by the name of Toareth Darqa. Though the relationship started off a bit rocky. It didn't take more than a few weeks for them to form a strong bond based on respect, trust and attraction. René always did his best to respect the boundaries Toar set, emotionally and physically. He knew she was worth waiting for. Three months went by and both of them realized how much they loved one another, but war with the Dominion was on the horizon, precipitated by a revocation of the Khitomer Accords and a short conflict with the Klingon Empire. René was given a field commission as an Ensign and assigned to the USS Venture. Despite promises to stay in touch, he never found out what happened with Toareth when they were reassigned to different commands. René served with distinction aboard the USS Venture and achieve the rank of Lieutenant (j.g.) and the billet of Deputy Chief of Security and Tactical. He returned to Earth following the the end of the Dominion War and attended a 90-day graduate studies at Starfleet Academy to complete his Master's degree in Defense and Strategic Studies. René just received orders for the USS Britannic and hopes to serve the new command with honor and distinction. |
