Personal History Faith Meredith Hawkins was born to be an engineer. From a young age, she was good at taking things apart. Putting them back together was a challenge. Faith didn’t take long to realise what she wanted to do. She wanted to be an engineer. A Starfleet engineer. Like her father Matthew.

She was the first woman in her family to join Starfleet. Never top of her class, Faith was content being close to the top. The limelight never appealed to her. Four years of training later, Faith was posted to USS Arundel. One year before the Dominion War. A one night stand resulted in a daughter, Meredith. Born a year before war.

Faith developed her claustrophobia on Arundel. She was trapped in an access shaft during a battle. She wasn’t rescued for several hours, because of heavy damage to Arundel. Faith counted herself lucky she was still alive. Many of her colleagues, friends weren’t. Meredith still had her mother. Her father, a casualty of war.

For six months, Faith was Arundel’s Chief Engineer. In one battle, Arundel was heavily damaged. Again. But she refused to die, against all the odds. After the war, Faith helped convert her to a training ship. Arundel was obsolete for the front line. But she could do a job training the next generation. Her task completed, Faith was reassigned to USS Britannic.
