Mission:
Prelude: Getting Ready to Depart
Location: Turbolift
Timeline: MD5 - 0920 Hours
With Admiral Oban requesting a moment with Lieutenant Kod'ar in private, the Admiral lead the Lieutenant and her aide through the bridge and into the nearest turbolft. When all three were inside the doors slid closed.
"Transport room 1." Oban instructed the turbolift. Once it acknowledged and began to move, she added. "Computer hault lift." She then looked at the Vulcan.
"It's good to see you again, Comm..." She had to stop herself from continuing saying the word 'Commander'. "...Lieutenant Kod'ar."
"I sometimes struggle to remember the correct rank also Admiral. There have been so many over the years, 'Captain, Commander, General, Consul, Senator..." he listed them off, each one referring to the many different posts and undercover operations he had undertaken on behalf of Starfleet during his varied career. The last three clearly of Romulan origin.
“What can I do for you Admiral?” The Vulcan glanced back to the Aide. This was a new face, one he hadn't seen before. Young, fresh faced.... easily manipulated he thought.
"I was wondering if you could do me a favour? It won't get in the way of your duties here but run along side them quite nicely." Oban replied with a sly smile.
"I have always learned to get more information before agreeing to favours, Admiral." he responded dryly, 'What tricks is she up to?' he thought to himself. The turbolift let out an involuntary beep to remind the occupants that it had been stopped mid-journey. "What do you need Admiral?" he questioned.
"I want you to keep an eye on Captain Fredricks. He has passed all necessary tests to continue as Britannic's Commanding Officer but I'm just not sure whether is is up to the job or not." Oban explained.
"I'll need to see his personnel file, Admiral. What should I be looking out for? Do you think he will go rogue? Should we expect erratic decision making?" he turned to glance at the aide again.
"Admiral," the Vulcan questioned, "Who is this?"
"I can make the Captain's personnel file available to you. I doubt he would go rogue but erractic decision making is a distinct possibility." The Admiral replied before glancing at her aide. "That's no one you need to be concerned with at this time."
Kod'ar stiffened in annoyance, but remained silent. He turned his back on the aide, and faced the turbo lift entrance. "And if the Captain displays erratic decision making, Admiral?"
"Report back to me. If I have evidence that he is unfit for command then I can start the process to remove him." Oban replied coldly.
Kod'ar gave a short nod, said nothing else and moved back to face the entrance of the lift. He became to think the situation through, and wondered what - if any - other motives could be at play here. From his own experience with the Admiral, which to be honest had always played out for the betterment of the mission, there was always a game of chess being played.
"Computer, resume." The Admiral said as she straightened her uniform. "Don't let me down, Mr Kod'ar."
"Have I ever, Admiral?" he announced rhetorically, wondering for a moment if the Admiral had his full service jacket and the various positions he'd held over the course of his career.
"No, but in my experience there is always a first for everything." She replied coldly.
"Computer, halt turbolift at next available stop." Kod'ar announced to no one in particular and within a fraction of a second later the lift came to a stop and its door slide open with a whizz of air. " It might be best if I'm not seen escorting you all the way to the Transporter Room Admiral. If there is nothing is else, I will wish you farewell."
"Thank you, Lieutenant. I'll get that personnel file to you before you depart." Admiral Oban said with a nod before watching the Vulcan exit the lift. Moments later the lift doors slid closed and before it continuing its journey to the transport room.
