ON

"There we go Lieutenant, painless as promised" Maxwell teased feeling a little uncomfortable as he handed back the Security Chiefs prosthetic leg.

Amara smiled as she started to reattach the limb. "Much appreciated Doctor... Its good to see you again... Its good to know someone else made it off the Hood".

"Same... Well I will go an update your medical records with the results of the physical examination but I can't see this affecting your appointment here. You seem to be adjusting to your new state".

She clipped the remaining strap into place as the doors opened.
"Commander" she greeted as the ships first officer strode in flanked by a young Vulcanoid and 2 other children. "Thank you Doctor!"

Doctor Fox nodded at Amara as he started to move away, nodding at Commander Mercy and his flock of Children.

The human girl smiled brightly as she broke into a run, stretching her arms out. "Auntie Amara!" She called out, all but jumping into the woman's arms. The two boys followed their sister at a more sedate pace, the dark eyes boy smiling happily while the pointy eared boy tried very hard not to smile.

"All the boxes ticked for duty?" Naois asked her.

"They are indeed" Amara bobbed down and scooped up the girl deftly and pulled her into a hug. "Look how big you've gotten... All of you!"

"We grow," Delon stated, reaching out towards the woman, "Revan and I may even get taller than dad. How have you been Aunt Amara? I remember you being much taller...."

Laura suppressed a chuckle as Revan prodded his brother. "We grow," he grinned, "we were what? Six, when we saw her last?" He turned his head. "Right?"

"All the same, you have no right to grow so quickly!" the Security Chief gave the little girl a proper hug before plopping her down on the ground and giving the boys an equally overdue hug. "I didn't know you all were on board!"

"Of course we are," Delon answered, returning the hug. "Where else would we go? Grandma and Grandpa Mercy can't take care of us, and dad says grandpa has earned his retirement by now and doesn't need us to tire him out." He stole a glance at his father. "We didn't know you'd be here either. What are you doing here?"

"I'm Security Chief... So no getting into trouble or I'll be the one putting you in the brig!" she teased as she jostled Delon's hair.

The Romulan child's eyes lit up. "Security?" He looked back at his father, then again at his godmother. "I want to be a security officer," he declared.

"No you don't," Revan countered, a cheeky sparkle in his black eyes. "You just think you can be a hero then." He grinned, dodging a punch from his brother..

"Boys..." Naois warned them.

"I'm much bigger," Laura declared, vying for some female attention, "much much bigger. Right?"

"Which is why you need to keep them both in order!" Amara beamed finding that the uncontrolled energy and enthusiasm coming from the kids to be infectious.

"How?" The little girl queried "they're older and bigger than me..."

Amara brushed a strand of hair away from the girls eyes in an almost maternal manner, smiling down at her warmly.
"You'll figure it out!"

The girl looked up at her. "Why aren't you our mom yet?" She finally blurted out, causing her poor father to nearly have a stroke.

"I'm your god mother which means if the unthinkable happens and your father is taken from you, then I would be the one to look after you",
Amara cast a quick glance at Naois, wanting to make sure her friend was ok given he had lost his wife, his children their mother. The young girl likely didn't understand what she was saying and the impact it could have on Naois.

"But..." The little girl bit her lip. "What if you were always our mom?" She finally asked. "You like dad, right?"

"I do, that's why we are friends. I've known your father a long time now. He's almost like a brother to me!" she said with a smile. She could see where the girl was going with her train of thought. Amara never dismissed any possibilities but at the moment, that wasn't an option for her but simply because she was still adjusting to her new condition.

"But you like like him, right? Really like?" The girl pressed before her Betazoid brother intervened.

"That's enough Lau. Please give auntie Amara some space now." Yet Revan understood. Being telepathic had it's perks and he was aware of his father's loneliness, but also if his baby sister's need for a female role model. Not that he understood much about that but he himself did miss having a mother. "I'm sorry auntie...I'm sure Laura means we'll."

"I know she does... I've missed you all the same... each of you!" Amara put out her arms so she could scoop all of the kids into a hug.

"I missed you too," Revan said, enjoying the hug as much as his siblings did. "Are you staying on the ship? We're moving here again. And I think daddy wants you to stay too."

"Actually I am. I'm the ships new Chief Of Security" she released the small herd of children, again smiling at each of them.

Delon perked up. "You are? Can I...spend time in the office? I want to be in security too when I get older."

"My office is directly off of the brig so I'm afraid you won't be able to but, if you father agrees then you can come on my security rounds from time to time!" looking up to Naois to confirm that would be ok with their father.

Knowing permission would be easier, Naois nodded. "Consider it part of your schooling. You may accompany her, but you may not attend actually security events. Self defense training is permitted, weapons training is not the moment."

The Romulan boy beamed at them both. "Thank you."

Knowing Delon would not betray the trust placed upon him, Naois nodded quietly. "Now perhaps we should let the doctor complete his work, so that Auntie Amara can actually report in for duty?" At his words, the children hugged her a final time and scooted out of sickbay. "Thank you," Naois told her, "this will likely keep him out of mischief."

"So you think... I have a whole host of mischief to get up to with him!" she chuckled, following Naois and the kids from Sickbay. "Thanks again Doctor Fox"
